c-P1040754Zikr is a practice of prayer using synchronized chanting, music, and movement. We invoke specific spiritual energies through sound and intention. In the Zikr of Presence, we move deeply into the Mevlevi path, coming together to remember God through whirling, prayer, and Sufi devotional music and poetry. This is a traditional form of zikr, common to many Turkish Sufi orders and practiced since the time of Muhammad. We have instituted this monthly meeting under the instruction of our order’s musical guide, Dr. Timucin Cevikoglu.

We begin at 7:30 and welcome you to join us. Most nights, we have time to chat afterwards over tea. Please wear comfortable, modest clothing and thick socks for ease of floor movement. If you are unable to stand in the circle or engage in the physical movements, know you can still fully participate by simply sitting and being present with us.

Zikr of Forgiveness

Monday, May 5th at 7:30pm, please join us for our transformative circle prayer practice of Remembrance. Together we will activate the divine healing attribute of Forgiveness through devotional music and movement.

You suppose you are the trouble
But you are the cure
You suppose that you are the lock on the door
But you are the key that opens it
It’s too bad that you want to be someone else
You don’t see your own face,
your own beauty
Yet, no face is more beautiful than yours.
-Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi

All are welcome! If this is your first time, please wear comfortable, modest clothing and thick socks for ease of floor movement. If you are unable to stand in the circle or engage in the physical movements, know you can still fully participate while sitting.

The Estag’firullah Zikr (Zikr of Forgiveness) is intended to be a spiritually healing experience. Please open your heart – the need is great. We sing and move together in prayer to polish our hearts, clarify our minds, and remember that we are intimately connected to God. Here we have a way to open our hearts and hands to the source of healing, and to all in need.

Feel free to invite friends whom may be interested. $10 donation invited.
